Department in brief...
Department of Knowledge Engineering is one of five cornerstones of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics and concentrates on the currently most rapidly developing areas of Information Technologies that stimulate growth of the information society of the 21st Century: interactive and multivalent digital documents, virtual collaboration, intelligent acquisition and exploration of information, computer vision and visualization of information and phenomena.

Our department has been actively cooperating for years with many Polish and European institutions - in international R&D consortia formed under Framework 4 and 5 Programs or intergovernmental cooperation agreements, in national projects financed by the State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) including research, development, Ph.D. and special grants, as well as EU educational projects aimed at introducing international academic quality standards to the education process at the Faculty.

DKE staff constitutes a well-concerted and experienced team of researchers competent in the areas of software, document and knowledge engineering. Our average team-member age is 40 – young enough to be not afraid of taking new challenges, but at the same time mature enough to be able to propose their solid and reliable solutions.
